This page explains how copyright works on Pixveil in both directions: how you may use what we publish, and how to tell us if you believe we have used something of yours without permission.

Worth knowing first. Pixveil does not host user content. Every tool runs inside your own browser and no file you open is ever uploaded to us. So unlike most sites with a copyright policy, there is no library of user uploads here — this page is about our own published material.

What this policy covers — and what it cannot

It is worth being precise about this, because Pixveil is not built like most sites that publish a copyright policy.

Pixveil does not host user content. Every tool runs inside your own browser: images you open are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us. We therefore hold no library of user-submitted files, and there is nothing of that kind for anyone to request the removal of. If you used a Pixveil tool on an image, no copy of that image exists on our servers — there is no server-side copy to begin with.

What we do publish is our own material: the articles on our blog, the images and diagrams we create for them, the text on our tool pages, and the code that makes the tools work. This policy is about that material — both protecting it, and correcting it if we have ever got something wrong.

Our content, and how you may use it

The written guides, original images, page copy and source code on Pixveil are our own work and are protected by copyright.

You are welcome to quote a reasonable extract from an article for commentary, teaching or review, provided you credit Pixveil and link to the original page. You may link to any page freely. What you may not do is republish an article in full, translate and republish it as your own, or scrape our pages to populate another site.

If you would like to use something more substantial — a chart, a full article, a data table — just ask. We usually say yes.

If you believe our content infringes your copyright

If you own the rights to material you believe has been used on Pixveil without permission, tell us and we will act. You do not need a lawyer to write to us, and we would much rather fix a genuine mistake quickly than argue about it.

So that we can act properly, a notice should include the elements set out in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or someone authorised to act for them.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
  3. The exact URL or URLs on pixveil.app where the material appears, specific enough for us to find it.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

Send it to admin@pixveil.app with DMCA Notice in the subject line, or use the contact form and choose the copyright topic.

What happens next

We aim to acknowledge every notice within three business days and to resolve valid claims within ten business days. Pixveil is run by one person, so these are honest targets rather than a service-level guarantee — but a genuine claim will not be ignored.

Where a claim is clearly valid, we usually remove or replace the material first and discuss it afterwards. Where it is unclear, we will write to you and explain what we need in order to decide.

Counter-notification

If material of yours was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notification containing:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.

Send it to the same address. Be aware that a knowingly false claim, in either direction, can carry legal liability.

Repeat infringement

Because Pixveil hosts no user accounts and no user-submitted content, there is no account to suspend and no upload privilege to withdraw. In the ordinary case this section has nothing to operate on — but for completeness: we do not knowingly publish infringing material, and we will not restore material that has been established as infringing.

Material we link to

Our articles link to other websites — statistics, official documentation, source material. We do not control those sites and cannot act on their content. A copyright complaint about material on another website has to go to that site's own operator or host, not to us.
