About the Halloween Scavenger Hunt Generator
A scavenger hunt is the most reliable party activity there is: it works for four children or twenty, indoors or out, and it fills the awkward stretch between arriving and eating. The problem is writing the clues, which is where most hosts give up and improvise something forgettable.
This generator builds the whole hunt. Choose the age group, whether you're indoors or outside, how challenging you want it and how many clues you need, and it assembles a set from 78 hand-written clues — a mix of straightforward finds and rhyming riddles, weighted toward riddles when you choose "challenging" and toward simple finds when you choose "easy". You also get three bonus clues for tiebreakers, a prize suggestion suited to the age group, and a short safety briefing to read out before anyone runs off.
Clue lists are built on your device. No account, no upload, and no limit on how many hunts you generate.
How to use it
- Choose the age group, how many players, and whether the hunt is indoors or outdoors.
- Pick a difficulty and how many clues you want — 10 to 20.
- Press Generate my hunt.
- Print one copy per player or team. Press Generate again for a completely fresh set of clues.
Tips
- Set a time limit of 20–30 minutes. Hunts sag badly past half an hour, especially with younger children.
- Play in teams of two or three. Solo hunts leave the slowest child a long way behind everyone else.
- Walk the route yourself first and remove any clue that doesn't work in your space.
- Read the safety rules out loud before you start, and agree a meeting point and an end signal.
- Outdoors after dark? Every player needs a flashlight or something reflective, and younger children need an adult with them.

The clue sets are written to stay within your own home, yard or porch — nothing sends a child to a road, to water, or onto someone else's property. Every generated hunt also includes a safety briefing to read out first.
