About the HEIC to JPG tool
iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many Windows apps and websites can't open. Convert HEIC to JPG right in your browser — no software install needed. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari: where the browser cannot open HEIC itself, Pixveil loads a decoder and does the work on your device, so the photos still never leave it.
Conversion runs on your device. iPhone photos are personal by default, and none of them are transmitted here.

Why iPhones produce a format Windows cannot open
HEIC is Apple's default since iOS 11. It stores roughly the same quality as JPG in about half the space, which is a genuine technical win.
The problem is everything else. Windows needs a paid codec, many web forms reject it, and plenty of older software has never heard of it. Converting to JPG is usually the fastest route to a file that simply works.
What the numbers look like
Expect the JPG to be roughly twice the size of the HEIC at comparable quality — that is the compression advantage you are giving up in exchange for compatibility.
If you would rather not convert at all, iPhone can be told to shoot JPG directly: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. New photos will then be JPG from the outset.
Common mistakes
- Converting at quality 100, which produces a needlessly huge file with no visible benefit.
- Losing the Live Photo motion. Only the still frame converts.
- Forgetting that the HEIC original holds the better-quality data. Keep it if the photo matters.
Questions people ask
Does converting lose quality?
A little, since both formats are lossy. At quality 85–90 the difference is not visible at normal viewing size.
Is EXIF data preserved?
Camera metadata is generally carried over. Use the EXIF Viewer to check, or Remove EXIF to strip it before sharing.
Can I convert many at once?
Yes — select or drop several HEIC files together. They are converted one after another on your device and download as a single ZIP. A few dozen photos at a time is comfortable; very large batches are limited only by your device's memory.
