About the Circle Crop tool

Why the output must be a PNG
A circular crop leaves the corners transparent. JPG has no transparency, so saving as JPG fills those corners — normally with white — and the circle stops being a circle against any colored background.
PNG and WebP both support an alpha channel and will keep the corners genuinely empty.
Profile picture sizes worth knowing
- Most platforms display avatars as circles but store them square
- 400 × 400 px is a safe minimum; 800 × 800 covers high-density screens
- Keep the face centerd with a margin — platforms crop tighter than you expect
Because the circle is inscribed in the square, anything in the corners of your original will be cut. Compose with that in mind.
